Time…
It seems to pass so quickly.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
The seconds pass quickly by…most of the time.
Then the minutes and hours.
It seems that we have plenty of it at the beginning of each year.
Thousands of minutes.
But we don’t always use them that well.
Sometimes, we let them pass…”it’s only a few minutes.”
But time is just like money.
We need to care for it carefully.
If we aren’t careful, it will vanish between our fingers.
Without our spending of it well
It vanishes so quickly into thin air! stop
Just like the days of our lives.
They pass so rapidly…we blink and our hair is gray!
And then we are gone from the scene.
What we have done with the time we had
Will affect those who follow behind us.
Rarely will it be the public things we did.
And that is scary!
It’s the private things, the behind the scene things, the lonely things,
The quiet things, the thankless things…
Those are the things that make the difference in how we used our time.
What our attitude was, what our priorities were, what our true passion was?
All these show in how we use our time.
Come now, you who say,
“Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town
and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—
yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.
What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
James 4:13-14
It is so easy to let time run away from us but important to try to use it well. I like how you point out that it’s often the things that seem little and insignificant that can actually be the important uses of our time.
thanks carly:) so glad you stopped by…and found my offering today helpful:)
I love the simplicity behind this post. We make life so complicated and fill it with so many things giving ourselves no margin to enjoy those thankless things. This was beautiful.
thanks ludavia:) kind comment. i enjoyed my visit to your blog as well:)
Such true words, Martha. Time does vanish. Each moment, gone forever. It’s hard for me to reconcile. The older I get, the more I want to use my time with intention. Not squander it. Either way it’s gone. But the way we use it will impact others, if we use it well.
You’ve got me thinking. Thank you for that. Have a great weekend!
thanks for stopping by jeanne:) i always take it as a compliment when a person says i provoked thinking. yeah!
So true, time is precious. May we use it wisely! Happy Friday to you, neighbor!
happy friday katha:) yes, using it wisely is definitely a challenge some days!
I love this post. It hits right to the core about our “time” here and how we spend it. It is the money God gives us and we need to spend each “penny” (second) the best we can!
yes amanda. sometimes it feels so abstract, particularly for the hours we don’t get paid for! we tend to undervalue them, but they are worth just as much as the hours for which we are paid…sometimes more! we don’t always see it that way do we?
Time does pass quickly. That’s why it’s so important to treasure the time we do have.
so true tara:) especially the time we have with those we love…and make the best use of it!
And it seems like the older I get, the more quickly time vanishes. 😉 I love that verse… for you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Truly makes me think about priorities.
i’m glad you stopped by stacy:) it’s true stacy, the older you get the faster time goes! (i was told it is b/c a year is a smaller % of your life, the older you get. it makes sense:)
