Welcome to Five Minute Friday. It is brilliant idea of Gypsy Mama and has been a lot of fun! We receive a prompt word and write 5 minutes. I read mine over and make sure it makes sense, put in my links and add a photo. Then I link it the page at Gypsy Mama where many others do the same. Take a peek over there and see some of the creative ideas others have used to talk about this topic.
DEEP BREATH
START
“Mom, I hate you!”
“You just don’t understand what it feels like to hurt like this!”
“Why doesn’t your husband do____? (When he was the pastor of a church.)
“Why don’t you ever….”
These are just a few of the statements that have prompted “deep breaths” for me in the past. What does a deep breath represent? An opportunity to pause and reflect. It gives me time to collect my thoughts, not react and lash out.
It also represents faith…in a God who is in control when not all in the conversation are…when my beating heart is pounding…when my stomach is churning with extra acid…when that spot in my head that originates sarcastic and cutting responses is energized.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (I Corinthians 10:13)
STOP
Hello Martha,
I love your post, the line ‘it represents a God who is in control when not all conversations are.’ is simply fantastic. I really love the idea that when everything is spinning madly, like plates on sticks, God knows what is going on, He meets us exactly where we are, and holds us close – He sees us.
Looking forward to hanging out on your blog. Happy Sunday.
