these are a few of my favorite things…
the smell of a freshly bathed infant
as she falls asleep in my arms.
the special hugs of my grandchildren.
the sounds of their giggles and laughter.
the soft sound of my husband as he breathes next to me at night.
the comfort of curling into his body as we fall asleep
during this 47th year of life together.
the flavor of a delicious meal as we eat together at the table… stop
or with friends at our small group.
or catching up with a group of friends…new or old
over lunch or coffee, and laughing ’til we cry…
the joy of sitting together in worship on sundays
as we sing, pray together, confess sin,
read GOD’s Word and hear it preached
with a community of believers.
and finally, the beauty I see in nature all around me.
the flowers, trees, creatures
the beautiful world with rising and setting sun
the order and routine
the touch of the Creator…
these are just a few of my favorite things.
(and yes, in this case, the photo is of a grandson, not a granddaughter! now almost 6 years ago.)
