Open hands
Generous heart
Giving GOD the best of what I have.
These are concepts I find in Scripture.
How often do I want to keep and hoard for myself?
To save and set aside more than is necessary?
To give what is used and worn out?
And keep what is best for myself? stop
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly
will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart,
not reluctantly or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver.
II Corinthians 9:6-7
Does generous describe you and the way you give to others?
of your time? money? resources?
and therein lies the rub doesn’t it anita…and the stretch! ouch! i’m guessing you are an introvert. i enjoy time with people, even outside of my comfort zone…well, unless they are attacking me of course!
but it’s true. easy is not what we’re called to for sure.
That’s a hard question, Martha! I find I’m generous in things that don’t mean a lot to me or don’t require much effort (money and resources, for example). It’s a lot more difficult for me to be generous with my time . I like being alone. I don’t enjoy spending lots of time with others outside of my comfort zone. But God doesn’t ask us to just be generous with what’s easy for us, does he?
WOW Martha…Now this is confirmation for ya! I am blown away at the fact that when given the prompt OPEN your heart went straight to GIVING. My piece is also on giving (and receiving/the return). I expounded on Malachi 3:10. Bless you for these beautiful words. I look forward to reading more from you at some point in the future! Blessings!
thanks yolanda:) we’ve been studying deuteronomy in our weekly study and that is the topic we have touched on in the last week or two. (last week was being generous and this week, giving our best to GOD and his servants…among other topics.) i guess it was on my mind. glad you enjoyed my blog/post. feel free to drop by again. i’ll have to check your out!
