And He said to all, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me…” (context Luke 9:23-26)
I wake up and want to stay in bed just a little longer…deny yourself, take up your cross…
I see that extra snack that I want. What is one more snack? I deserve it don’t I? deny yourself, take up your cross…
I have a demanding patient…or family member. Nothing I do for them is satisfactory. It’s a crazy night. I have other patients that are really sick…deny yourself, take up your cross…
My husband is tired. It has been a hot day driving that bus. What will you do to make his evening a relaxing one? Yes, you are tired, you are busy…deny yourself, take up your cross…
Your daily issues may be different, but the every day drumbeat remains the same…it convicts me as I write…deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Me.
Come join us at Gypsy Mama where others have taken the challenge to write for five minutes (I don’t count linking and adding illustrations in my five minutes…I’m not that good!) on the assigned topic. It’s always interesting to see the variety that we come with.
So true, great post
the journey is every day, isn’t it? We are called to do it daily, to die to self, to take up our cross, and some days the burden overwhelms, but with his help, by his strength we take each step, each breath… blessings to you. (just stopping over from Gypsy Mama’s page 😉
thanks for stopping by Kris:) i’ll have to stop and see your entry at gypsy mama. i got in from work last night and saw her topic and was a bit stumped because of the hugeness of it. i went to take my shower and it hit me that denying my self and taking up the cross…those are the “daily chores” that are the most difficult…b/c they are needed at the most inconvenient times!
beautiful post. so true. love the name of your blog.
steph
thanks for stopping by steph. i like your blog name too. unbroken hope can only come from the Person in whom we have hope (confident expectation) b/c it can’t rest in us and our ability to be hopeful, can it?
