We have been invited to a beautiful feast laid outside in a beautiful setting. There is a guarantee that it won’t rain because the One who has provided this meal is in control of the weather. Only the best and freshest food is there. Tables are set for us to enjoy our meal as we enjoy eating with others. The meal is buffet style with someone serving our drinks…and refreshing them. There are no mosquitos. The weather is perfect.
Can we picture ourselves in this setting as we meet together each week to worship? Share on XWe sit in this majestic setting enjoying the breathtaking scenery as we visit with friends and get to know new ones. All the while, we watch the sunset as the sun goes behind the mountains and there is a beautiful array of red, orange and gold stretched across the sky. stop
This is not just an invitation for one evening. It is an invitation for a lifetime and our host is Jesus. He has invited us to commune with Him and be part of His family. No, we aren’t all related by blood, but we have all been bought with the same price…His precious blood.
Can we picture ourselves in this setting as we meet together each week to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ? As we interact during the week in Bible studies, on projects, in the halls of the church building? If we can’t get along and enjoy each other with the deep connections we have, what will the world see about us that it will want or need?
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.Even though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.Psalm 23:1-6
**I’m taking a pause for Five Minute Friday today. Our word is “invite,” It does relate but isn’t technically part of our 31 day series. Tomorrow I’ll go back to 31 DAYS OF CARETAKING: ONE DAY AT A TIME.
What a great reminder of how lucky we are to be invited by Christ. Thanks!
It really is a privilege and honor, isn’t it Amanda? As I was writing this, I have reminded again of just what a privilege it is!
Beautiful post

Love this, Martha. Have to admit, I’m pretty ill right now and when I read ‘there will be no mosquitos’ I thought I had read,, ‘there will be no burritos’.

whoops! i just found this in my spam folder andrew! wow! you are foggy:( i understand fog. not the kind you are going through of course. i have had the after-a-seizure fog. it is very weird! you wake up and are missing hours from your life that you can’t account for. you check and discover your tongue is all chewed up and you had a seizure. then you go down the list to get yourself oriented. what day is it? yada, yada? it takes awhile before you can read with any concentration.
i’m sure the burritos in heaven will be divine:)
thank you tondra:) i knew what i wanted to say, just couldn’t get it to fall into place until this morning…third try!
Fed and nourished by the bread and wine; the body and blood. Communion!
