As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—
the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God
with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying,
“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,
“Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
Luke 19:37-40 (ESV)
Today is Palm Sunday. This was the day the people in the streets responded to the message of Jesus and praised and worshipped Him for who He was…or for the glimmer they understood Him to be!
But their praise was very fickle. Less than a week later, many of these very people were part of the crowd yelling, “Crucify Him. Crucify Him!”
Isn’t it interesting that even here, the Pharisees wanted Jesus to quiet His disciples down?
His words are so interesting. “If these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
On this Palm Sunday, as we head into Holy Week, let us worship the King and the Lamb of GOD who died for the sins of the world!
The King Who comes in the name of the Lord is all I can count on forever and ever. Thank you for sharing. Love the photo and the Word.
