We gather together as a community
One in Christ.
I know, it sounds good.
But it’s true.
We don’t always have much in common
Except Christ.
We are a mess.
Often we try to look neat and tidy.
The truth is that underneath it all,
We are a mess.
That’s why we need Jesus in the first place!
So we gather together.
One in Christ.
Aware that without him
We have nothing in common.
Nothing to celebrate.
As we come together to worship
Each week
In our local church body…
That represents the larger
Body of Christ from all over the world,
Down through the centuries.
To God be the glory.
As we gather together…

Love your post. I was thinking along the same lines when I was in Church last weekend….so so many people, all with different problems, different lives, different prayers…all joining together in God’s love. Beautiful. {An FMF friend}
thanks helen:) it’s truly amazing that we ever get along at all. so much is discussed about the church and her failings, but when you think about it, so many of our churches…the vast majority, are 100-200 members with diverse ages who normally would have nothing in common at all…apart from Christ!
it’s true we are the bride of Christ…we look pretty tattered at times, but He is preparing us for the final wedding day when He will appear. it will be awesome in a way that we can’t even imagine! even so, come lord jesus!
