“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad.
So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:47-50 (ESV)
Today (Sunday), this was the passage our sermon was based on. After all these years, I had never heard this parable …ever! it was a totally new one to me. Yes, I’ve read the Bible through a few times, but I somehow missed remembering this one.
Honestly, I can’t say much more on this passage that will improve on the sermon we heard. It put a context to the message of grace…which often sounds so sweet and maybe even wimpy. If that’s what you think of grace, you especially need to listen to this sermon! So turn on your computer and do what needs doing. Or if you need to sit down and be quiet, you can do that too! Your heart will be blessed and encouraged.
If you are a child of Christ, you will be encouraged and humbled. If not, you will have an understanding of what being a child of GOD means…and why there is nothing about it that is something for which to be proud or arrogant.
Click here. Then click the sermon titled “Deadliest Catch” on May 18, 2014. Blessings as you walk your journey with Christ this week.
One more resource for your family.
This week I became aware of a resource some of you might appreciate for your families or yourselves. It is on the website of a new acquintance of mine named Andrea. It is found here.
It is a reading plan for reading the Bible along with a video that will give you background information on the book you are reading. It will be helpful as you read the particular book or set of books.
Isn’t it great the way God’s Word constantly reveals itself to us? I discover something all the time! The Bible is truly a living, breathing guide for followers of Jesus.
I’m glad you’re enjoying my Bible Reading Challenge. Our family is really loving our trek through the Bible. The year isn’t even half over and we’ve already read 12 books for the Bible! This has been a great way for our family to study God’s word.
it’s amazing how much of the Bible we read once we start on a plan, isn’t it Andrea? i did a 90 day plan of the whole Bible awhile back that i enjoyed a lot. it was the first time i felt i had a bird’s eye view of it! it was a chronological plan as well. went very fast. i got a little behind but still did it in about 100 days.
this kind of plan focuses more on the details of course. much better for going through as a family or individual. it has been great getting to know you at our e-retreat:)
