Do the words from David’s Psalm describe you? Take a look at the details of Psalm 69 as it describes the steadfastness and faithfulness of GOD’s love for us!
I often have to talk to myself when I impulsively react in panic to my circumstances or emotions as the Psalmist did. He also “talked to himself” as he lived before GOD.
He remembered GOD’s faithfulness in the past. He reminded himself of who GOD is: One who steadfastly loves him, among many other things.
It was a conversation with him and GOD. When we have those conversations in panic, rage or fear, we don’t always feel like we are praying exactly, but those are probably the best, most honest prayers!
Later in the chapter, he reminds himself of the antidote to gloom.
I will praise the name of GOD with a song;
I will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
This will please the LORD more than an ox
or a bull with horns and hoofs.
When the humble see it they will be glad;
You who seek GOD, let your hearts revive.
Psalm 69:30-32
