Are you struggling with a mix of grief and fear? I am & I know I'm not alone! Our hope is in the One who is omni x3! #omnix3, #hopeforthejourney, #marthagrimmbrady, #coronavirus

I thought this time of being at home was going to be productive. But the last week or so has not been very productive at all! All I seem to be able to do is nap! I start working and next thing I know, I’m dozing off. We manage to get a walk in. I get meals done but not a whole lot more. I think it is a low grade grief mixed with fear.

Life is way off balance! The more I try to get balance, the more off-balance it is. Yes, I write about the topics I do because I need them for myself, not because I have it all together in that department!

I don’t think it helped that Ron was in the hospital about a week before we were put under quarantine so I’m dealing with the emotional issues that flow from that also. As I read comments on the internet, I realize I’m not the only one. There is plenty of grief and fear to go around for all of us.

Praying for GOD’s protection and mercy in light of this awful disease is very appropriate

I have been challenged to pray for GOD to protect our country and the world from this disease. It isn’t too much to ask GOD to show us mercy. We don’t know how He will answer that request.

Accepting the encouragement of others is helpful too

A newsletter I received this week was also helpful to me. It was written to supporters of Parakaleo, a group who encourages and supports wives of church planters. Of course, now I can’t find it! So I’l only be able to share the jist of it. Hopefully, I won’t mess it up too much.

We are not blessed with the Omnis, only GOD is

It’s at times of stress that we forget that we aren’t omni-
Only GOD is. He is

  • omnipotent
  • omnipresent
  • omniscient.

We aren’t powerful enough to fix everything. We can’t do enough to protect ourselves or those we love from illness or danger.
We can’t be everywhere. We can’t fix this situation for our loved ones who are not near us.
We don’t know enough to do the right things to fix our situation. We don’t know the future or where the safest places are to be even in our present. Only GOD does.

That’s why we need Jesus. We aren’t omni-anything. Only He is. Our natural tendency is to way underestimate Him and his power, presence and knowledge…of everything, past, present, and future.

GOD is still on His throne. He is in control of what is happening. None of this is taking Him by surprise.

The word for today is short and sweet. GOD is on His throne. He is in control of what is going on even when we wonder how that can be possible. We can not improve our situation by worrying or attempting to do the things we normally do to control our environment. We do need to be wise, but not frantic. Our GOD is the one who is omni x3. Knowing who we are trusting helps us be able to trust Him more.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink,
nor about your body, what you will put on.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they?

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
And why are you anxious about clothing?
Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,

yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field,
which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not be anxious, saying,
‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

For the Gentiles seek after all these things,
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:25-34 ESV
