Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place
by the blood of Jesus,

by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain,
that is, his body,

and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience
and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for he who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:19-23 NIV

What is encouraging here today? That GOD has promised guilt no longer has to have a strangle hold on us. If we are in Christ, we have been cleansed from guilt when our sin was forgiven. In fact, that was the difference between the sacrifices of the Old Testament and the sacrifice of Jesus. The Old Testament sacrifices could not deal with the guilt! Hebrews speaks more about that later.

Jesus took all our sin on Himself and paid for it once and for all!

But Jesus took all our sin on Himself and paid for our sin once and for all at the cross. Only the eternal GOD in human form could do that! A human who lived a perfect life could have paid for his own sins. But Jesus, as the infinite GOD-man was able to pay for an infinite number of sins when He died. His death was sufficient enough to pay for all the sins that needed to be paid for, not only for his time, but for all time!

It is pretty amazing. No longer do we have to keep trying harder and harder. Our salvation is complete. There is nothing we can do to make it more complete or better in any way. There is nothing we can do to improve on the work GOD has done for us already.

None of us could deserve a gift like this!

This is a gift far beyond our deserving. There is nothing any of us could do to deserve it. It is a gift pure and simple. There is nothing we can do but bow humbly in thanks for this wonderful gift of salvation.

The work we do now is an outworking of gratefulness and worship, not of guilt!

Lest anyone think I am saying we can now just sit on our hands, I am so not saying that! There is much to do. But the work we do now has nothing to do with earning or in any way improving on our salvation! That is done and complete. It is a gift that none of us deserves, given to us by GOD. But the work we do for Him has more to do with acts of worship and thanks. I just want to make that distinction. Nothing we do will improve on our salvation.

You no longer live under a cloud of guilt! Your sin has been dealt with according to GOD’s perfect justice.

So enjoy and appreciate the fact that you no longer have to live under a cloud of guilt. Jesus paid for your sin. Attacks that come at you, reminding you of past failures are not from Him. He has taken care of your guilt and sin. Attacks that remind you of what a hypocrite you are, you can’t possibly serve Jesus, are not from Jesus. Their source is from the one who wants to disable you and see you behaving like a victim.

In Christ, you are set free from guilt. Live in that place by faith!

Call to Action: Do you have places in your life where you struggle with guilt? Do you need to identify where they are and repent of your unbelief of GOD’s promises to you found in this Scripture and many others? Talk to Him. He died to pay for all your sin. It is done!

As a result of what He did on the cross, Romans 8:1 can be your life verse! I think guilt certainly comes under the category of condemnation. If GOD doesn’t condemn us, there is no room for anyone else to!

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus
from the law of sin and death.
