Do you have difficulty making time for it?
Making time for silence before GOD is something modern day Christians find hard to do.
We’re too busy. Life is too noisy.
Yes, we are. Yes, it is.
But we have control over both things.

We can slow down. We can say “no” more often.
We can stop and pause. We don’t have to do all the things we are doing.
Nor do we have to run at a frantic pace.
But if I don’t have my kids in all these extracurriculars, they won’t get into the right colleges.
Really? I have another question for you. Will they know how to relate to others?
Or will they always just say, “I’m too busy…”
For many, that sounds like a good excuse/reason for not connecting with others.
How does it sound to GOD? How does it sound to the person who needs a listening ear and a kind word?
How will it sound to your children who have never learned to have meaningful conversations with adults…because they are too busy? stop
Do we take time to stop and talk to GOD? Do we stop to listen to Him?
Our busy-ness takes a huge toll. We miss out on those times when we can catch our breath and connect with our Creator.
Yes, we need to spend time in GOD’s Word. We need to pray as well. But if our prayers don’t include time for us to listen to what GOD has to say back to us, it will be much more sterile. It won’t be the warm, loving relationship He wants.
We need to listen to GOD’s voice as it comes to us, often in the quiet. It will never disagree with the truth of the Bible. It will be alive and fresh. It won’t be worried about what people think.
The voice of GOD will be much more concerned with GOD’s glory and the development of my holiness! That may be helpful as you discern where the voice is coming from that you listen to.

As we spend time with GOD and get to know Him better, some of the responses as seen below will be ours. Job’s response to some of GOD’s answers was silence in the sense that he put his hand over his mouth! He saw how small he truly was!
And in the last passage, Habakkuk realizes that even though he didn’t understand GOD’s plans, he realized that GOD was in His holy temple, all the earth will keep silence, the kind of silence we have when we are in awe!
Then Job answered the Lord and said:
“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you?
I lay my hand on my mouth.
I have spoken once, and I will not answer;
twice, but I will proceed no further.”Job 40:3-5
But the Lord is in his holy temple;
let all the earth keep silence before him.Habakkuk 2:20
I agree, it is very easy to feel we’re too busy but that’s not healthy, or a good example to be setting to others. We need those times to slow down and be still.
you are so right lesley! it is so much easier to keep busy in frenetic activity than to sit quietly at Jesus’ feet. not very effective in the long run, but some fronts, it is much easier.
