Hope, as used in the Bible, is defined as
Confident expectation in the promises of GOD.
There is no guessing or hoping as we have in English.
There is no tentativeness to the word.
It is much more tied to the word faith.
It isn’t based on anything in me.
But on the One in whom I put my hope…Jesus.
His promises are the ones I trust in.
Because they are as good as done.
When He promises heaven for His children
I can believe it.
Because Jesus fulfilled the requirements that made me
A Child of GOD in the first place!
“My hope is in the Lord
Who gave Himself for me…”
Because if what He has said isn’t true…
I am doomed. stop
Hallelujah! I am not doomed.
Because He is faithful to keep His promises.
I am forgiven. It is really true!
We are not doomed! What we are is limited in our sight, finite in our understanding. We struggle to see through a mirror dimly, or as I imagine, a foggy day, but one day, the fog will dissipate and we’ll be dumbfounded and dazzled by Christ!
Thank you for such glorious encouragement! I’m #10 over at FMF. Many blessings!
glad you stopped by colleen:) being dazzled by Christ on that will be awesome won’t it? 🙂
Martha, great post! God is indeed faithful to God’s promises. I am thankful that we are not doomed. Visiting from FMF where I’m parked in the #9 spot this week!
glad you stopped by today tara. i’ll have to take a look:) what a comfort to remember how faithful GOD is to his promises starting way back in the old testament…and realizing that his promises are new and fresh every day.
Totally amazing post, thanks for sharing.
thanks denise. glad it was helpful:)
Martha, what a wonderful, truth-filled post. When Jesus is the basis of our hope, we are never disappointed! Stopping in from #FMFparty. I’m your neighbor there! Blessings to you!
leah, welcome neighbor! it’s true isn’t it? these days there seems to be plenty of bad news to go around. when the psalms talk about GOD being our rock, I definitely feel it during times like this!
