In this month of new beginnings, when we have already experienced the realization of our own human brokenness on many levels, this promise from GOD is a huge comfort to each child of His.
He is with us. We won’t be overwhelmed by our circumstances. He is GOD, the Holy One…and our Savior. We, His children, are precious to Him, honored and loved by Him.
Is there anything more comforting? Even in times of failure? Or not living up to our own standards, much less His?
I find this touching at the deepest levels of my soul! And to think it was written in the Old Testament. There are many places in the Old Testament where we find the same GOD of the New Testament. Imagine? The same GOD through all the ages of time! Who knew?
But now thus says the Lord…
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…
Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you…
Isaiah 43:1-4
I am an OLD child, but all I can count on is that He will love me forever. And hold me like a small child when I end up in heaven. Sometimes I can hardly wait… and other times I want to stay here and work and work and serve and serve more and more. Nice to know I have a loving Father. Thanks for sharing.
