My agenda for today: to finish up my projects on the house so I could get the realtors over here for a consultation.

GOD’s agenda for me today was quite different.

When I got up today, I asked Him to please help me today.  I feel like I am living in a dry desert…some of it of my own making, but dry just the same, I need His help to get out of it.

While eating breakfast, I took a few minutes to check my facebook news and came across this sermon from Urbana 3 years ago.

Micheal Oh

Nearby was this talk as well, also from Urbana.  Her talk about the woman at the well was refreshing and put an interesting context to that story in the gospels…and gives more understanding of why the Pharisees hated Jesus so much!

Finally, at the end of my short errand in the car, I heard this interview which I finished listening to when I got home.  It turns out it is part 1 of a 3 part interiew on Family Life Today with Tullian Tchvidjian about his new book Glorious Ruin.

I highly recommend it for his openness and honesty…and realization that GOD can often only be found in the middle of pain.  The site is also a great place for interesting interviews on all kinds of topics affecting the family.  I recommend it for your encouragement.

Tullian Tchividjian Interview

It has been an encouraging and hopeful day as I have been reminded of my mission in the world, the importance of forgiveness, not only for completing God’s mission, but also for my benefit!

The need that is ever present in the world, not for those who have it “all together”, but for those who don’t…and the need to show the world how we can continue to live “in Christ”, trusting Him for the strength to persevere.

Then Tullian Tchvidjian reminded me of the power of what we learn in the middle of pain.  Not by trying to get away from it, but by persevering through it and facing our own personal idols.  His reminder of the promises of GOD in Christ in this interview were extremely encouraging.  And that was only Part I.  I’m planning to listen to the next two tonight or later tomorrow.

So that’s my quick word for today.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

I’ll close with something from my listening yesterday on Biblegateway.com …a great place to find any translation, any verse or group of verses you would like…all free, all printable!  And yes, some versions are available in audio versions too!  Enjoy as you grow and even find new ways to grow.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,

that according to the riches of his glory

he may grant you to be strengthened with power

through his Spirit

in your inner being,

so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—

that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

may have strength to comprehend with all the saints

what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,

that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly

than all that we ask or think,

according to the power at work within us,

to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus

throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
