This month, my Sunday themes are along the lines of goals and races. I usually tend to be more motivated at the beginning of the year. I tend to need these verses more when I get bogged down in busy-ness! Those times are usually April-May and November-December.
But right now, in the middle of extra traveling, I’m needing them to get myself motivated to change my eating habits. Now that I’m home for awhile as far as I know, I’ll get into my new groove. Finding that groove is where I’ll have to concentrate for awhile.
As you think about trimming back in some area of your life to get rid of excess, this is another encouraging Scripture. For me, it feels like I’ll just be getting started.
Not that I have already obtained all this,
or have already arrived at my goal,
but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Brothers and sisters,
I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win the prize
for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
