We are in a state that has started to open up. After two weeks of having some businesses open, the really important places like nail salons, hair dressers and barber shops, among others, have opened. Women who needed their hair colored, lips waxed, hair cut and nails polished are starting to smile again!

Of course, these weren’t truly the most important places to open, but they were high on the list after 2 months! Now that Ron and I have gotten those details taken care of, we, especially me, are feeling much better about facing our next challenges. (I say this with some tongue in cheek.)

Churches were allowed to be open yesterday, but most decided they needed a little more time to get ready to work out all the details. Our church will meet for the first time this coming week. I’m so excited. We will all have to wear masks for awhile. They will still livestream the service too because there are some who probably shouldn’t get out yet. At first, they will have two services so they have space for everyone. I don’t know if they will need it or not.

I was in a section of town on Saturday where they have a lot of outdoor restaurants and they were all busy. It almost seemed like old times. It was a beautiful sunny day and people were outside with their dogs and eating at these restaurants. As long as we don’t have an increase in cases, we’ll be fine.

Is COVID on its way out? We can only hope.

It could be that COVID is on its way out. Maybe it will be back on a seasonal basis like flu? Maybe it will flare on occasion? It’s true we don’t know. Certainly our nursing homes, elderly and iommuno-suppressed need to be careful. But they need to be careful all the time! Treatments are being developed and so are immunizations. As more states open, I suspect we’ll see more encouraging signs. So far, the worries of more and more deaths have not developed. I’m sure it helps that people are able to get outdoors in the fun and fresh air. I’d love to get to the beach for a bit, but have no idea if we’ll be able to pull that off this year or not. It would be so fun! Talk about a fantasy.

So as I ramble here, I hope we’re at the end of another hard time in our lives. I hope that the worst of COVID has happened so our nation can get back to work and recover economically. That will be when we know we are doing better. It’s just good to remember that GOD has been with us all along…holding our hand. He is guiding us. He is strengthening us one day at a time.

Nevertheless, I (GOD) am continually with you;
    you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
    and afterward you will receive me to glory.
 My flesh and my heart may fail,
    but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:23-24, 26 ESV
