Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;

Kneeling there in deep contrition,

Help my unbelief.

Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;

Heal my wounded, broken spirit,

Save me by Thy grace.

Thou the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,

Whom have I on earth beside Thee,

Whom in Heav’n but Thee.

by Fanny Crosby

When the prompt “pass” popped up tonight, this hymn immediately came to mind. As I thought through the words in my head, I realized I had something to write about for sure!

During times of humbling and weakness, what better prayer than to ask GOD, “Don’t pass me by.” “I see you working all around me. I bow before you and ask you… please, don’t pass me by.”      stop

Obviously, He won’t pass His children by. He has so much invested in us, to say nothing of the fact that He is a covenant keeping GOD. He promised in the Old Testament to keep the covenant He made with His people. In the New Testament, He spilled His own blood for us on the cross to pay for our sin and earlier, He promised:

 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish,
and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,

and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
John 10:27-29

But we can never take it for granted. We need to humbly bow before the holy, majestic GOD of the universe. We need to see who we are in reference to Him. And find mercy as we admit our need before Him…only finding merit and healing in Him.

What a treasure we have in the One who has not passed us by…and won’t pass us by as we come humbly to Him.

Do you remember your place…in reference to the GOD of the Universe? How encouraging that He hasn’t passed us by.
