The year begins
Fresh, new, clean.
No scribbles or wrinkles.
Nothing to mar its first pristine pages.
Just like the famed New Year baby with the pink bare bottom.
You smell her freshness.
You have such hope
- That this will be the year those bad habits will change
- That reconciliation will take place in those relationships where it is needed.
- That light will come to the dark places.
- That renewal and refreshing will come to your heart and soul in ways you have never known.
But in order for that to happen,
The old order will have to change.
You won’t be able to keep doing the same things over and over.
New habits will have to replace old ones.
GOD will have to do a new thing in you.
The old order will have to change. You won't be able to keep doing the same things over and over. Share on XAre you ready?
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.Isaiah 43:18-19
Beautiful post.
thanks tara:)
Love this! It’s easy to begin a new year with expectations that everything is going to be different somehow but as you say it’s not just going to happen automatically- it’s about opening up to God and letting him work change within us. I hope I’m ready- trying to be open to what he wants to do anyway!
very true carly:) paying attention to the areas that don’t seem to change can help us pay attention to where it needs to happen. may GOD give us the courage to change in the hard places this year! blessings friend:)
Your question, “are you ready” leaves me wondering. I see that it must be so, that things have to change within me to resolve the broken, to clean out the cluttered dusty corners of my life. I hope so. I will move in that direction.
you know the definition of insanity gabriele? doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result. that was my point behind part of that comment. if we keep doing the same thing over and over again, year after year, we WILL get the same result. if it one we don’t like, we HAVE to change…no matter how much we hate to change. it is staring us in the face like a wild bear! 🙂 ugh. it is like 2 hard choices. for me, change is usually the preferred one. at my age, i just find it to be more and more difficult and painful. i just have to remember that being eaten by the bear is going to be painful too!
Martha-
What a good post in short time to express the wonders of change and a blank slate for the new year! I found your post on FB then linked via Pinterest…well done! I pray we all fill our new year with new changes that bring us and Him Joy!
thanks jennifer:) blessings to you this brand new year. hope the food changes for your son bring about a simpler and more joyful year for him and you.
I’m your neighbor at FMF today. 🙂
Nice thoughts, changes on the surface don’t really make a difference. Reminds me of the verse in Romans 12: We need to allow God to renew our spirit, our entire being, so that the inside will affect the outside.
Lots of great moments and encounters with our Lord this year for you! Happy Friday!
thanks for stopping by katha. blessings to you in far off south africa in this brand new year! so good to know Jesus is not limited by geography or time zones isn’t it?
