Is this as comforting for you to read as it was for me?
…especially in light of last week’s passage?
That’s where John made the point that we are sinners. That even though we have come to Christ for cleansing from sin, we will still sin! It’s part of living in a fallen world as fallen people.
At those times when we sin, we have someone we can go to: Jesus Christ! He, the the Righteous One, advocates for us. Not because we are innocents. But because we are guilty. He advocates for us because HE is the innocent one who atoned for our sin! Just like the innocent, perfect lambs in the sacrificial days of long before…only better. Because His sacrifice was final and for good.
final and for good. Amen Martha!
hard to believe isn’t it lisha:) you would have loved my pastor’s sermon today! (except that we con’t say “amen” enough!) it was on the same topic but included a great illustration. i loved it! it was a great add on to my thinking and his illustrations are great…often are around food:)
a lovely Saturday Evening thought as I head off to bed – and enjoy being in church tomorrow .
yes carol, it truly is something to think about as we worship on Sunday isn’t it? Both as we confess sin, receive pardon and rejoice in praise!
