Prompt-small
GO
I look around at the universe
So vast and grand
The more we look,
The more vast we learn are the numbers of galaxies.
The more small, infinitesimal, I feel!
I look at the Creator of the world
and see how huge He is.
He is eternal and unchangeable.
Just and holy,
Yet loving and longsuffering.
Perfect and totally balanced in His attributes.
It is mind-blowing that He would extend grace and mercy to me.
I am small and insignificant by comparison.
There is nothing special that would make me stand out to Him …
Of all the people in the world.
I am that small. STOP
I am one voice.
Writing on the internet.
On a little blog.
My words don’t make a great splash.
I’m not the most gifted writer who is writing.
Yet GOD has put me here.
I am small.
My blog is small.
It may never be well known.
Am I willing to be small for GOD?
And allow Him to use me for His purposes?
Naturally, I want to be known by others…and adored.
I want people to want to hear my words.
It’s natural.
But the words they need to hear aren’t mine.
The encouraging words are the words of GOD:
“I am come that you might have life and that you might have it abundantly.” John 10:10
For you were called to freedom, brothers.
Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,
But through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
The Gospel is for the small, the needy, the helpless…
Sinners who are aware that they need Christ in order to have abundant life!
As Americans, we often focus on being the best and biggest.
The Kingdom of GOD is quiet and insidious.
It is not meant to make a splash.
It is quietly growing and moving.
Its power and strength is under-estimated.
But a day is coming…
Christ will return.
The Kingdom will arrive in its fullness.
Small will be gone forever!
Grand and glorious will arrive!
Stunning and creative and delightful will be here in their full glory.
And the Light of the world will fill the New heavens and earth
With a light and glory like we have never known!
Even so, Come Lord Jesus!
God is coming again to collect us and take us to a new home. We are small and so undeserving, but God is Holy and Wonderful. Thank you for your simple truth today,
thanks for stopping by mary:) it is simple truth that give a hopeful perspective to the apparent smallness of our present lives doesn’t it?
Sometimes I get frustrated at how small i feel, but this was the reminder that God uses the small too.
thanks for stopping by sara:) i go to that place often. i guess that’s why i wrote about it. it’s easy to forget that we are part of something huge, even tho’ we can’t see it.
Hi Martha!
Your words ring true to me tonight and I needed that reminder: “Am I willing to be small for God?” A good question, a needed question. I sigh and then I wholeheartedly answer yes. Being small for God is much better than being big on flesh. I never want my flesh to be big… it gets too stenchy.
Happy Friday to you! May your weekend be filled with small reminders of how big His love is for you!
hi brandi, so glad you stopped by. it is a hard question but one i need to think about every so often.
