Warning: This is not a post for children…adult content.

Over the past few years I have become more aware of something that goes hand-in-hand with each SuperBowl.  It is in the dark corners of it, but not necessarily outside the fancy hotels!

Did you know that during the SuperBowl, many young women are moved to the area for the purpose of servicing the many who will be taking advantage of their services?  Yes, many have been taken at young ages from different parts of the world and are being held against their will in abusive situations.

Those who go into this “profession” by choice (if that is possible) rarely see themselves as having many other options

Others are doing the job of being a “hooker” for other reasons…none of them positive.  There is no question this is not the job women go into who have confidence, positive self-images, and see themselves as having options in life.  Most have had histories of abuse, poverty, and neglect.  Add to this the many who have been taken into this harlotry under false pretenses, drug abuse or straight out kidnapping.  The sadness of these women’s lives can’t be overestimated…to say nothing of the danger they are in all the time.

Big events like the SuperBowl attract the people who “own” these women and girls.  This means big business for them.  It is a big weekend for them in terms of income.

For the girls and women, it is miserable.  The numbers of men they are required to service are obscene.  If they don’t take in enough “clients” per day, they will be beaten, or worse, a friend will be beaten or abused and they will be forced to watch!

The news that this is going on at such intensity on this football weekend has taken the enjoyment of the game away from me.  It is up to each of us to decide how we deal with more and more of the evil that is associated with this game…and many other public events we have enjoyed over time.

We can help lessen the effect of this dark evil by praying, giving and being aware

For sure, we aren’t responsible for all this evil, but there are things we can do to help.  We can pray, give to organizations that help various aspects of helping this horrible problem…either the criminal side or the rescuing side.  We can also be aware…of things that are happening in our own neighborhoods and all around us.

I’m the mother of 3 daughters, grandmother of 5 granddaughters.  The thought of all these girls and women being so mistreated is abhorent.  The fact is that this is the largest human trafficking weekend of the year.

Pray for the light of GOD to shine in the darkness this weekend…that justice to the evildoers and mercy to these women and girls will prevail

Pray for safety for these girls and women.  For the evil intentions and plans of the traffickers to be put to confusion.  For light to shine in the dark places of evil this weekend…and justice to prevail.  For the organizations that work with these girls and women and infiltrate to solve criminal cases against them, to be successful.

Make time this week to pray for this problem…and for GOD to bring healing and rescue to these women as well.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
